Growing the future of cannabis.

Our sustainability focus allows us to stay ahead of market changes and lead technology development.

Cloud Farming grows vertical hydroponic cannabis and hemp in recycled, redesigned shipping containers in East Boston. Our experience has resulted in an extraordinarily energy-efficient and sustainable farm producing high-quality, pesticide and chemical-free crops year-round.

Our facility is built. There will be no lengthy build-out or wait time until Cloud Farming is producing and selling cannabis to local manufacturers. Our sustainability focus allows us to stay ahead of market changes and lead technology development. In fewer than three years, recreational cannabis sales have surpassed two billion dollars in Massachusetts. We’re growing the future of cannabis.

A neighborhood asset

Popular indoor farming methods take cues from traditional practices that don’t prioritize efficiency. Cloud Farming’s vertical growing and recycled water system mean lower energy usage and no water runoff resulting in reduced capital and operating costs. Focusing on all-around energy efficiency and metric monitoring means that Cloud Farming can successfully navigate, evolve, and thrive in the developing cannabis industry.

Sustainability

Cloud Farming specializes in Controlled Environmental Agriculture, allowing us to monitor and control temperature, lighting, and water flow through digital systems. Cloud Farming is working toward integrating sensor technology, automation, and machine learning to optimize our efficiency and help us continually evolve and improve our operations.

Technology

Working with cannabis industry leaders, Cloud Farming is working to improve sustainability in cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution throughout the market.

Leadership

Cloud Farming is dedicated to continually learning about improving sustainability in the cannabis industry. Shawn helped develop an energy efficiency study with Dartmouth University Thayer School of Engineering and Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society, sponsored by the Sustainable Cannabis Coalition and supported by Rocky Mountain Institute.

Based on the initiative’s success, Shawn plans to extend the work with Dartmouth into additional new-build opportunities, retrofits, and developing consistent industry metrics for energy efficiency and GHG. Learn more about the research program here.
